Tolman

Pete Tolman is the Chef/Owner of Iron Born Pizza in Pittsburgh PA. He is a proud graduate of the IUP Culinary Academy in Punxsutawney PA. After culinary school he began working at a number of fine dining restaurants including 5-star/5-diamond restaurant Lautrec at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. At the age of twenty four Pete took on the role of Executive Chef for the Giant Eagle Market Districts for seven years.

In 2016 he took a trip to Telluride Colorado and dined at Brown Dog Pizza which is owned by fellow WPC Member, Jeff Smokevitch. The Detroit Style Pizza at Brown Dog inspired Pete to pivot from his corporate job, work on fine tuning his Detroit dough recipe to open his restaurant Iron Born one year later. Fortunately Pittsburgh fell in love with Iron Born and he was able to open three restaurants in three years. Pete accepted his invitation to our World Pizza Champions team in 2019.
